About the studio

A studio built around the gown

Dresses Couture works on high-end dress development and production: design development, pattern work, sampling, hand embellishment, gown making and small-batch runs for labels, designers and boutiques.

01 — The work

One kind of garment, done properly

We are not a general clothing factory with a dress line bolted on. The work here is evening and couture garments — the kind where fit, structure and handwork decide whether a piece succeeds.

That focus shapes how a project is run. A gown has to be proved on a sample before a run is committed, so sampling, fitting and handwork sit at the centre of the process rather than at its edges.

You can arrive with a concept and nothing else, or with a finished tech pack and a quantity plan. The services are built to start wherever your project actually is.

02 — Clients

Who we work with

There is no single type of client here, only projects that match the craft. Most of the work comes from these groups.

Independent designers

Designers building a first collection who need development, patterns and samples before they can approach production.

Established labels

Brands that already sell dresses and need a partner for a new style, a complex piece or a small run.

Boutiques & retailers

Shops and specialist eveningwear retailers looking for short runs built to the standard their customer expects.

Emerging brands

Young labels testing a silhouette or a market before committing to a larger production plan.

Studios & design teams

Other ateliers and design teams that need pattern work, sampling or handwork carried out to their brief.

Private & project clients

Private high-end commissions, plus buying offices and project agencies that bring a defined scope to the studio.

03 — Fit

How we decide whether to take a project

Fit is assessed per project, not by client type. We look at whether the craft matches, whether the quantity suits how the garment is made, whether the materials can be obtained, and whether the deadline is realistic.

The clearer your information and your budget, the faster that assessment can happen — and the sooner you get a real answer, including when the honest answer is no.

For projects with heavy development ahead, we confirm the need, the budget and the scope in writing before large amounts of design or technical work begin.

04 — How we present our work

Only what we can stand behind

Photographs on this site show the studio's own work and its craft details. Project photos are described for what they are, and client commissions are not presented as our own designs or named as examples without agreement.

You will not find claims here about certifications, capacity figures, client lists or guaranteed lead times that we cannot evidence. Where a number or a term has not been confirmed, we say the matter is settled per project instead of dressing it up.

Questions

Working with the studio

Do you only take on full collections?

No. A single style, a development commission or a short run can all be taken on. The scope is what your project needs rather than a fixed package.

Do I need to know exactly what I want before contacting you?

No. A concept, a reference image or a rough sketch is enough to start. Development exists precisely for the stage before the details are decided.

Can you work with a brand that is just starting out?

Yes, where the project matches the craft. Emerging labels often begin with development and a sample before committing to any production quantity.

Where is the studio based?

We work with clients internationally and handle projects remotely as well as in person. Contact details are on the contact page.
