Fit and pattern
Fit corrections, pattern changes and the adjustments that follow from them, made on a garment instead of on paper.
Service — Sampling & handwork
Physical samples, from the first pattern cut to the approved reference piece, for gowns where fit, structure and handwork all have to be right before production is committed.
Why it matters
A sample is the cheapest place to be wrong.
We make a physical sample and send it to you. You fit it, put it on a form or check it against your specification, and you confirm it before production starts.
After that approval, the sample becomes the reference the production floor answers to. Measurements, seams and placement are checked against the garment in your hands rather than against a drawing or a description.
You can commission sampling on its own, whether or not the project continues into production. How many samples are made, how many revision rounds are included and which materials are used are set in the quote. Sample fees are charged separately and are not credited against a production order.
In the sample
The sample is where the unresolved parts of a gown get resolved, while changing them is still cheap.
Fit corrections, pattern changes and the adjustments that follow from them, made on a garment instead of on paper.
Building complex gowns, and the internal decisions that hold them in shape: lining, corsetry, boning and structure.
Hand embroidery, beading, sequins and appliqué, tested on the sample before they go near a production line.
Rounds and cost
Scope, revision rounds and deliverables are confirmed before work starts. Nothing is sampled on an assumption, and the number of rounds is settled in writing.
Extra samples are costed at the actual material and labor they use, so a second or third round is priced on what it really consumes.
Sampling is quoted separately from the development work that comes before it, and the sample fee is not credited against the production order.
Before we cut
Three answers make the sample round more useful, and cheaper, than it would be without them.
The fit you are aiming at, the body it is for, and any measurements you already trust.
The fabric, trims, embellishment technique and internal structure the sample has to work in, and who supplies them.
The number of sample rounds is agreed in advance, and the person who signs off is named before the first sample is cut.
Questions
Sampling time is estimated per project based on style, materials and handwork, and it starts once the scope, fees and materials are confirmed.
Projects usually start with a physical sample that you check and approve. The number of rounds before approval is agreed in advance.
Tell us what is wrong against the agreed specification. Corrections within the agreed scope are handled as part of the round. A change to the confirmed design, materials or measurements is re-assessed in cost and time before it is carried out.
Start
A sketch, a reference garment or a technical drawing is enough to begin. We will come back with the sampling scope and what it would cost.
