Service — Handwork
The handwork behind the gown
Beads, sequins, crystals and lace, placed by hand, over the structure that holds the shape.
Placed by hand
Placed by hand
Embellishment is laid out and secured by hand, panel by panel.
Beads, sequins, crystals and lace are placed and fixed by hand, following the drawn design, so density and gradient are controlled rather than guessed.
Lace work and appliqué are laid and secured the same way, so the decorative layer belongs to the garment.
Handwork can be commissioned on its own, either on panels you send us or on a garment we are making. What can be carried out depends on the technique, the materials and the design, so the scope is confirmed in the quote before any beading or embroidery begins.
Structure
The parts you do not see
Under the embellishment sits the structure that gives the gown its shape: the lining, the corsetry and the boning.
These parts are rarely seen once the gown is worn, and they are still developed and finished with care.
Sample to run
How craft becomes production
A technique is worked out on the sample first. Once it is proved, it carries into the run.
See sampling for the sample work and small-batch production for the run that follows. The same handwork runs through our high-craft gowns service.

Questions
About the handwork
Is the embellishment done by hand?
Yes. Beads, sequins, crystals, lace and appliqué are placed and secured by hand.
Does handwork hold up in wear?
Durability depends on the materials and the construction, and both are confirmed per project.
Can handwork be used in a small run rather than one piece?
Yes. A technique worked out on the sample can be carried into a small run.
